Darcy Allen Sample obituary

Darcy Allen Sample, 66, passed away on Tuesday, Nov 16, 2021at Box Butte General Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Memorial services will be Tuesday November 23rd 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Matt Koperski officiating. Darcy will be laid to rest at the Alliance Veterans Cemetery, with lunch at the Alliance Fire Hall following.

Darcy was born September 30th, 1955 in Alliance Nebraska to Dean and Rose (Janicek) Sample.

Darcy graduated from Hemingford High School in 1973. After graduating Darcy enlisted in the Nebraska National Guards where he served from December 1979 to January 2001. While serving with the National Guard Darcy also served the community of Alliance by serving with the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department. Darcy is a lifetime member of the fire department after serving from February 1989 to March 2011.

On August 13th, 1977 Darcy was united in marriage to Bobi Muff and with this the 4 Sample girls were born. Erin (Alex) Dubray, Lisa (Matt) Burri, Jessi (Cody) Davis of Buffalo WY and Jenni (Jason) Lott of Bridgeport NE.

On December 21st of 1996 Darcy married Cyndi Ballmer, with this union Darcy gained a son. Corby (Jennifer) Welch of Wichita KS.

Darcy fought valiantly for each new day he was given. Darcy had faced and fought many health issues that most could not imagine. Darcy was blessed with a second chance at life thanks to the selfless act of Chuck Giger.

If you couldn’t find Darcy in the maintenance department of Parker Hannifin where he was currently employed since 1998. You could find him planning his next trip to chancing his luck at Wendover casinos or planning his escape from the cold Nebraska winters with a trip to Aruba with his wife.

Darcy is survived by his wife Cyndi and his 4 girls along with son Corby. Darcy was “papa” to 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Bruce (Bonnie) Sample of Lincoln, Dan (Judy) Sample of Alliance, Aldon (Mary) Sample of Arthur NE, Diane Arnold of Loveland CO and Wendy (Justin) Sogn of Rapid City SD and numerous nephews and nieces.

Darcy is preceded in death by his parents, step-dad, Barry Christian, brothers: Alton, Erwin and Dwayne Sample, his sister-in-law, Karen Poland, his father and mother-in-law, Dennis and Jane Ballmer and grandson Dominic Dawn.
