Doris Arlene (Schance) Milks, age 88 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, NE.
She was born on December 17, 1931 to Gilbert Wayne Sr. and Pearl Anna Henrietta (Winters) Schance in Oxford, NE. She was raised and schooled in Hemingford, NE and Doris attended Concordia College in Seward, NE with her teaching certificate. Then she taught rural school. She met Alvin Henry Milks Sr. and they were later married in 1951 in Alliance, NE. Doris and Alvin made their home in Springfield, NE until 1974 when they moved to Alliance. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she was a hard working homemaker.
She is survived by her son: Alvin Milks Jr. and wife Deborah of Springfield, NE; two daughters: Susan Mayhew and husband Carl of Grand Island, NE; Betty Hanks and husband Dan of Hollywood, MD; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; her sister: Martha Applegate and husband Stan of Scottsbluff, NE; three sisters-in-law: Judy Schance, Marilynn Milks, and Lois Milks; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Gilbert Sr. and Pearl Schance, brothers: Robert “Bob”, William “Bill”, and Gilbert Jr. Schance, her husband: Alvin Milks Sr., two brothers-in-law: John and Glen Milks, and sister-in-law: Darlene Glesmann and husband Fred.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
