Douglas Downs Spuds 6 to 3

Gering hosted a contest on Friday featuring Alliance and Douglas. Solid pitching by the Travel Cats carried Douglas past the Spuds 6 to 3. Alliance managed just 4 hits for the game. Three tallies by the Cats in the third proved to be the difference. Jack Freiberger started for Alliance, went 2 frames, and had three strikeouts. Also tossing were Ridge Toedtli and Leo Hager.

Inning one had the Spuds go scoreless in the top of the frame while Douglas got 2. A double by Hager in the second gave the Spuds hope. Unfortunately, he didn’t score. Two Ks by Freiberger in the bottom of the frame kept the deficit at 2. Frame #3 was a tough one for Alliance. The Spuds failed to score while the Travel Cats plated 3 more. After three, Alliance was down by 5.

Two tallies in the top of the 4th got the Spuds to with 3. Tyce Johnson walk and scored after an RBI knock by Grady Mracek. A wild pitch then plated Mracek. Three strikeouts by Toedtli in the last of the frame kept the Alliance deficit at 3. The Spuds closed their gap to 2 in the top of the fifth. Knocks by Jon Luke and Toedtli made it 5 to 3. Douglas got one in their last at attempt. Alliance failed to score in the top of the sixth as the Cats took the victory 6 to 3.
