DOVES Director Celebrates 20 Years of Service

The DOVES Program Board of Directors is pleased to recognize executive director, Hilary Wasserburger, for 20 years of exemplary leadership.

“Hilary Wasserburger’s strong work ethic and devotion to the DOVES Program has been instrumental in impacting many lives over the years. Her work with and on behalf of domestic violence victims and survivors has helped not only the individuals, but our community as well” said DOVES Board Member Patsy Yager.

Under Hilary’s leadership, DOVES has secured and sustained substantial grant funding for direct client services and expanded awareness and prevention efforts. This funding allowed DOVES to open its first public offices in 2003, expand its service area to include 9 counties in 2010 and host multiple billboard campaigns in recent years to break the silence about sexual and domestic violence. “Bringing awareness to the public of issues like domestic violence, sexual violence, and dating violence has helped more individuals understand they are not alone and that there is help available’ continued Yager.

Hilary’s passion to improve our community extends outside her service to DOVES. Hilary has been actively involved in the Panhandle Continuum of Care for Housing and Homelessness for over 15 years. She also served on the board of directors of the Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence for 10 years.

“Hilary is a true visionary who has led the DOVES program for 20 years. The Board is honored to recognize her many achievements during this time.  We and our communities are indebted to her and her dedication to fulfilling the mission of the DOVES program,” said Hallie Feil, DOVES Board Vice-chair.

DOVES Board chair Jaime Rohrer added, “Hilary reaching this giant milestone doesn’t come as a surprise. For as long as I’ve known Hilary, she’s shown her dedication and determination to the DOVES Program time and time again. Hilary is a remarkable Executive Director and an even more remarkable person. We are lucky to have her.”

DOVES’ mission is to ensure our empowerment-based and strengths-centered services are available and accessible to anyone who has experienced or been affected by sexual, domestic or dating violence.
