Dr. Travis Miller has been selected as the new superintendent for Hemingford Public Schools for the 2022-23 school year.
In an announcement on the Hemingford Public Schools Facebook Page, the district announced that Dr. Miller, who has served as the superintendent for Bayard Public Schools for the past 11 years, was named as the new superintendent.
“Prior to the superintendency, Travis served as a social sciences teacher, coach, staff development specialist, K-12 principal, and school board member,” the announcement said. “Travis is a lifelong Nebraskan who comes from a family of educators, as his parents are both retired teachers/coaches. Travis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney prior to earning three credentials from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. These include a Master of Education in Educational Administration, a Certificate of Specialization in Educational Administration and Supervision, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Studies with a specialization in Educational Leadership and Higher Education.”
Dr. Miller has also worked as an AdvancED (Cognia) Field Consultant, and is a past member of the Executive Board of the Nebraska Association of School Administrators. He currently serves on the Nebraska State Accreditation Committee and as a member of the University of Nebraska President’s Advisory Council.
Among the various awards and honors he has received, Dr. Miller was recognized with the Golden Apple Teacher Award and as the 2009-10 Outstanding New Principal. In 2015, he and his wife Andrea were recognized as Distinguished Young Alumni of the University of Nebraska at Kearney. In 2021, Dr. Miller was also recognized with the Distinguished Service Award from the Nebraska Association of School Administrators.
In the 2022-23 school year, Hemingford Public Schools will also see alumna Misty Curtis take the reins as the new Hemingford High School Principal. Curtis brings with her 18 years of experience in education.
