Five Run Seventh Carries Juniors Past Torrington 8 to 3

A big seventh inning enable the Alliance Junior Spartan squad to down Torrington 8 to 3 on Sunday. Alliance starts the season 1 and 0. Tied at 3 heading into the final frame, the Peltz Co put 5 on the board in getting the win. Three Spartans took the mound with Fletcher Moseman getting the start and going 3 innings. Also on the bump were Miguel Galvan and Kyler Hamel. Alliance ended with 9 knocks with key hits in the seventh delivered by Galvan, Jackson Shelmadine, Tanner Salcido, Carson Stull, and Jayden Garcia. The contest was played in Torrington.

Both clubs found the scorebook in the first. Alliance got hits by Teagen O’Gorman and Creighton Fritzler to take an early one run lead. The host Tigers came back with a 2 spot in the bottom of the first. Torrington used a triple, an Alliance error, 2 walks, and a hit batter to surge ahead 2 to 1. No runs were scored in the second. The Peltz Co knotted the contest in the third thanks to an RBI hit by Jackson Devlin. Torrington went down 1-2-3 in the home half and the game went to the fourth inning tied at 2.

Alliance retook the advantage in the top of inning #4. A sac fly by Jayden Garcia make it a 3 to 2 ball game. In the bottom of the fifth, the Tigers scored once to tie the battle at 3. Both teams failed to score in the sixth. The Peltz Co took control of things in their final at bat. Hits by Galvan and Shelmadine make it 4 to 3. Singles by Salcido and Stull ensued that put the score at 5 to 3. With the bases full, O’Gorman walked as the the Spartan lead went to 6 to 3. The final blow came from Jayden Garcia whose 2 run single made the board read Alliance 8 Torrington 3. The Tigers were denied any runs in the bottom of the frame and the game ended with Alliance winning 8 to 3.
