Frances Jean Smith died Friday, February 25, 2022 at Chimney Rock Villa Nursing Home in Bayard. She was 87 years old.
She was born May 31, 1934 in Alliance, Nebraska to Albert and Ella (Lance) Mundt.
She married Wendel W. Smith on October 15, 1952 in Bridgeport, Nebraska. She was very active in the Alliance area. Over the years Jean operated a day-care center, worked at the Drake and Rainbow Hotels, and also cleaned homes. Jean was a very helpful, kind, and caring person and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her five children, Delmar (Dee) Smith, John Smith, Derald (Rhonda) Smith, Roger Smith and Sandra (Kelly) Clark, all of Alliance. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and her brothers, John and Alvin Mundt of Alliance. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Memorial services will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel. Reverend Russell Saito will officiate. Interment will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery.
