Jeannine Mardele Coder Bignell Obituary

Memorial services for Jeannie Bignell will be Friday, April 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. Pastor Gideon Achi will officiate and burial will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery.

May every sunrise hold more promise. May every sunset hold more peace. 2-22-22 has taken on a new meaning for Jeannine’s family, as she chose this special date to leave our crazy world.

Jeannine Mardele Coder Bignell was born to Blanche and Ralph Coder on December 12,1928 in Brunswick, Nebraska at her Aunt Gertrude Weaver’s home. The family later moved to Alliance where she attended Central School and graduated from Alliance High in 1947. During this time, her parents divorced with Ralph moving to California. Her mother married Henry Neafus who Jeannine loved dearly. Jeannine worked for several years with the telephone company as an operator and information clerk.

On September 17, 1950 she was united in marriage to Ed Bignell. They were blessed with two daughters, Jill and Julie. Jeannine was active with ranch life and never turned down a chance to ride her horse and help move cattle.  Jeannine was an avid reader and never missed watching Jeopardy at night. Perry Mason and Murder She Wrote provided countless hours of entertainment. She enjoyed doing ceramics and took tole painting classes. Her work was beautiful, she definitely had an eye for color.

In later years, Ed and Jeannine loved wintering in New Braunfels, Texas where they gathered new friends and good times. Wonderful memories were made. When they were unable to return to Texas, embroidery became a favorite hobby and she took great pleasure sharing her tea towels with others. Search a Word puzzle books kept her busy and challenged.

Jeannine is survived by her daughters, Jill and Bruce Blume of Alliance and Julie Bignell of  Wylie, Texas. Grandchildren, Brent and Linda Blume, Omaha, NE, Shannon and Jeff Aughe, Chandler, AZ, Erin Blume, Baltimore, MD, Courtney Blume, Denver CO, And Stephanie Bignell, Wylie TX. Great grandchildren are Payton Blume, Kansas City MO, Avril Blume and their mother Lori Blume, Omaha NE, Mason and Brady Aughe, Chandler AZ and Addelyn Bignell,Wylie TX. She is also survived by her cousins, Sharan Cook and Sandra Bush of Bismarck, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeannine was preceded in death by her husband Ed, her parents Ralph Coder, Blanche Neafus and Henry Neafus and her beloved cousins, Elaine and George Sallquist.

Memorials are designated to Carnegie Art Center; United Methodist Women; East Point Horspice and Highland Park Memory Support Unit.
