In just 2 at bats, the Alliance Juniors put 20 runs in the scorebook and pounded out 12 hits in cruising past McCook 20 to 2 in action played Saturday in Alliance. The Spartans scored 14 times in the bottom of the first inning in posting their 8th W on the season. Three Juniors-Teagen O’Gorman, Tanner Salcido, and Jackson Devlin-ended the contest with 2 hits each. Fletcher Moseman started the game and went 2 innings in an affair called after the top of the third due to the run rule. Jayden Garcia tossed the third.
Using a double, the guests scored first. The First Central Bank advantage won’t last. Seven hits by the Peltz Co in the home half paved the way for 14 tallies. Early knocks by Israel Garcia and O’Gorman started the scoring. Both runners would steal home as the Spartans grabbed a one run margin. After a walk, a hit batter, and an error by the visitors, the Spartan lead went to five to one after a hit by Devlin. The scoring continued with the Juniors getting a hit by Salcido and a 2 run triple off the bat of Jace Jensen. Up 11 to 1, the rally went on with the Spartans getting RBIs from Moseman and Carson Stull. After one inning of play, the Peltz Co enjoyed a 14 to 1 lead.
Two strikeouts by Moseman in the second helped the Juniors maintain their advantage. Six more Spartans runs in the bottom of the second made it a 20 to 1 ball game. The Peltz Co recorded five more knocks in the frame. Salcido started things with his second hit. A run scoring single by Jackson Shelmadine ensued as the rout continued. The inning came to a close with the Junior squad getting hits by Quinn Ferguson, Devlin, and O’Gorman. Alliance led 20 to 1 after two innings of play. The guests would score once in the top of the third.
