Health 4 Life Dr. Nick Kizzire decided to pursue chiropractic work to help others. Kizzire himself has dealt with chiropractic problems.
According to the Health 4 Life website, “My senior year I was being recruited by a handful of division 2 colleges to run track and cross country. During my senior year, I suffered an injury towards the end of basketball season. I saw an athletic trainer and was told to ice, rest and take ibuprofen as needed. After 3-4 weeks of getting no better, I decided to see a chiropractor.”
Kizzire said his experience with chiropractors in high school and college while attending UNK encouraged him to pursue a career in chiropractic work.
According to the Heath 4 Life website, “After two or three visits, my hip felt great and I went on to be runner-up in the 2 mile at the state meet. This helped me get a scholarship to run track and cross country at the University of Nebraska in Kearney. After my experience with chiropractic in high school, I knew I wanted to go into a field where I could help people after college but did not fully commit to being a chiropractor… at least not yet.”
Kizzire said he decided he wanted to become a chiropractor because he wanted to help others.
“The summer before I started my senior year at Kearney, I still did not know what I wanted to do after school. Then I remembered my commitment in high school of going into a field that I could help people. I also remembered my experience at the chiropractor in high school and how the chiropractor allowed me to compete in my senior year of track. I applied to chiropractic school and never looked back,” Health 4 Life’s wesbite said.
Recently, Kizzire took over as sole owner of Health 4 Life Chiropractic, which offers chiropractic adjustments and exams for new patients.
“It’s mostly about the spine and spinal health and the nervous system; the function of the nervous system,” Kizzire said.
According to the Health 4 Life website, “Chiropractic focuses on the central nervous system. The central nervous system consists of the brain and the spinal cord. The brain sends signals down the spinal cord and through 31 pairs of spinal nerves that exit the spinal cord between 24 individual movable vertebrae. These nerves go to every cell, tissue, and organ in the body and regulate every function. The nervous system is what allows your heart to beat, your lungs to breathe, and your stomach to digest the food you eat. It’s what allows a cut on your finger to heal and it’s what allows you to contract your muscles so you can move about throughout the day.”
Kizzire uses spinal exams, nerve scans, x-rays, intersegment traction, cervical traction and adjustments for patient, as well as sometimes using the Graston Technique, which treats soft tissue conditions that are chronic, acute or post-surgical.
Kizzire said he has used the technique on Achilles tendon injuries to help break up scar tissue
He not only treats adults. Kizzire has helped adjust infants who have trouble sleeping, colic and ear infections.
First-time chiropractic exams are 25 minutes and adjustments are 15 minutes.
According to the Health 4 Life website, “The purpose of the vertebrae is to surround and protect the central nervous system. When the spine is out of its normal alignment, it can put pressure on the nervous system and cause all kinds of body signals including headaches, pain, numbness and even organ dysfunction. This is known as a subluxation in chiropractic. At Health 4 Life, we focus on finding any subluxations in the spine and correcting them via a chiropractic adjustment.”
