The Alliance School Board took action last Monday night, reducing the number of monthly meetings from two to one, and changing the day they meet.
The decision comes after a policy committee meeting in February. Board Member Karen Trussell, at the board’s Feb. 13 meeting, introduced the notion to the board.
“One suggestion we’re thinking about asking everybody is what do you think of having one board meeting a month the second Monday of every month,” Trussell explained. “We thought with seven and eight minute meetings, it’s kind of silly meeting twice a month.”
Superintendent Dr. Troy Unzicker said the board could always call a special meeting if needed. He said meeting on the second Monday every month would help staff to better prepare all of the necessary reports for the monthly meetings.
At the board’s meeting last Monday, the board took action on the policy, after Unzicker confirmed the shift would not affect the interlocal agreement with Hyannis Public Schools. The board approved the revision unanimously, with it taking effect immediately.
