Mary Ann Ylander Obituary

Mary Ann Ylander, 93, of Alliance, Nebraska formerly of Lindsborg, Kansas passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Box Butte General Hospital, Alliance, Nebraska.

Mary Ann was born June 6, 1929, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Theodore David Martin and lola May (Luckey) Martin. She graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson, Kansas. Ann attended and graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. While at Bethany College, Ann met her best friend and the love of her life Harry l. Ylander. They were married June 18, 1950. Their loving marriage endured for 70 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to all she knew.

Ann enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening, knitting, playing the organ and piano for church and being a girl scout leader. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life in later years. She and Harry moved to Alliance, Nebraska in 2020 to be closer to family. During her time in Alliance,

she enjoyed making new friends with her fellow residents at Highland Park Assisted Living, watching just about any sporting event and learning about western Nebraska.

Ann is survived by her son, Dr. David (Kathy) Ylander of Alliance and daughter C. Anne (Chuck) Luedders of Black Hawk, Colorado, four grandchildren, Kevin Ylander, Becky (Kenny) Gehrman, Bryce (Laura) Ylander and Brandon (Mandi) Ylander, seven great-grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry l. Ylander and her parents.

Per her request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date with inurnment in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery, Alliance, Nebraska alongside her husband Harry.
