Obituary Wiletta Dye

Wiletta Dye passed away on July 16th, 2026.

She was born on February 6, 1938 in Alliance to George and Lena (Bartels) Holthus.

Wiletta was baptized, confirmed and married at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She and Frank enjoyed 70 years of marriage. One of her greatest joys was her family, which included the many nieces and nephews that came to share life on the farm. Many memories were made in her kitchen and out checking cows. She was known for her clever sayings. We bet you are smiling as you think of one.

She is survived by her husband Frank, sons Lance (Reed) Alliance, Alan (Jane) Prairie City, SD, her grandchildren, Shauna Dye, Shane (Jessica) Dye Alliance, Jessica (Hank) Bison, SD, Logan (Julie) Dye and Cassandra (Christian) Holland of Prairie City, SD and her great grandchildren, Lilly, Natalie, Shannon, April, Phoenix, Cali, Gentry, Shiloh, Riley, Trent, Thad, Joy, Anna, Wilson, Aspen, Liberty, Orin, Ty, Cash, Lanora, Ivy, and one on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Lorraine Boness of Alliance and sister-in-law, Dorothy Holthus of Scottsbluff, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lena (Bartels) Holthus, her sister, Lavone (Cecil) Wessel, her brothers-Wendell (Mary Lou), Gene (Alta), Eldon, Ivan (Marge), Paul (Marlene), Neal (Jackie) and her brother-in-law, Dick Boness.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Richard Mueller officiating. Burial will be at the Alliance Cemetery. Please dress casually. There will not be visitation at the funeral home or church. A luncheon will be at the church following the service. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran School or the charity of the donor’s choice.
