A five run first inning was enough for the Alliance seniors in their Monday game with Ogallala. The Spartans defeated the Adams Bank and Trust 10 to 1 for their 11th win on the year. Alliance finished the home game with 9 hits. Recording 2 each were Carver Nemnich and Jaxson Esparza. On the hill, Peltz Co got 3 plus innings from starter Tony Escamilla who got the win. Also pitching were Kegan Rodriguez and Cody Gallas. For the season, the seniors have an 11 and 4 record.
Ogallala was denied any tallies in the first. Five scores by the seniors in the bottom of the frame helped Alliance gain the early momentum. A leadoff knock by Jaxon Poss began the rally. Espen Lanik was next and he reached after an error by the guests. A passed ball then made the score 1 to 0. Lanik would score on a wild pitch. The inning continued with hits by Spartan Kobe Strom and Escamilla. An RBI groundout by Mikey Johnson gave the Peltz Co a 3 run advantage. Another wild pitch by Ogallala gave the Spartans run #4. The scoring came to a close with a sacrifice fly by Galles. After one inning of action, the seniors led 5 to 0.
Frame 2 had both team’s bats go silent. Escamilla recorded a strikeout in the top of the third as the Spartans maintained their 5 run margin. In the home half, the Peltz Co scored once. Hits by Nemnich and Esparza and an RBI sac bunt by Gallas made it a 6 to 0 ball game. Adams Bank got one back in the top of the fourth, using a walk, a double, and a single. Alliance failed to score in their at bat. Heading to the fifth, the Spartans held a 6 to 1 lead.
Two more k’s by Alliance pitchers kept the seniors in control in the fifth as the visitors failed to score. Hits then ensued for the Spartans in the bottom of the inning by Nemnich and Esparza. An RBI groundout by Rodriguez made it a 7 to 1 contest. Galles recorded 2 strikeouts in the top of the sixth, keeping the Peltz Co lead at 6. The game came to a conclusion with the Spartans scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth. Alliance got a hit by Lanik to began the action. Strom was then hit by a pitch and both runners scored on an RBI hit by Jackson Smith that ended the game. Final Alliance 9 Ogallala 1.
