Public Transit:

Facility Maintenance:

• Fixed lighting at library.

• Installed new GFI’s at Sr. Center.

• Assisted with setup for Sr. Center Valentine’s Dinner.

Streets:

• Assisted in cleanup of 7th and Sweetwater well site.

• Pot hole repair.

• Ongoing ice removal.

• Sweeper repairs and broom replacements.

Water:

• Disposal of debris from 7th and Sweetwater well.

• Weekly water samples.

• Fixed chlorine leak at 18th and Colorado well. Fixed chlorine leak at well field.

• Worked on leak at Elkhorn well.

• Met with Core and Main about remote metering.

• 9 work orders.

• 1 locate.

• Un-clogged pump at “A” station.

• 2 employees attended school and obtained their grade 4 water license!

Landfill:

• Installed new lighting. Replaced lock on front door. Tensioned conveyor.

• 130 customers this week.

• 199 tons of refuse this week.

• Ran burn box.

• Attended tire amnesty meeting with KAB staff.

• Assisted with repairs at library.

Electric:

• We continue making progress on the Flack-Hudson alley rebuild project.

• We installed the new streetlight fixtures in the 100 block of Box Butte – we will be lighting them in the near future.

• Performing building maintenance in the generation plant on west 3rd.

• Performed monthly generator run per MEAN requirements.

• We have a planned outage for the 200 block of Big Horn-Toluca alley on Saturday to perform maintenance and install new metering on Wolf Auto.

• Continue to upgrade streetlights to new LED as needed.

HR:

• Working on data input for Paylocity’s HR Module.

• Assisting employees with FMLA and WC requests.

• Preparing for Seasonal Hiring in Parks, Pool, Public Works, Golf, and Carhenge.

• Conducting interview and assisting departments with job offers for open positions, scheduling new employees for onboarding.

• Accepting applications for the positions of Part Time RSVP Clerk and Police Officer.

Airport:

• Repaired taxiway light previously damaged during snow removal. Repaired two airfield signs.

• Serviced air compressors for shop equipment.

• Hail Storm Claim 2021 – Last roof on hangars will be completed today. Walk in doors for bi-fold hangar will be installed next week. Final cleanup and then contract with Twin City should be complete.

• Met with Tarrah to review insurance claims.

• Conducted one interview this week for open airport position.

Knight Museum & Sandhills Center:

• The Museum hosted the Alliance Police Department for a regional training.

• We also hosted the Community Huddle meeting and the Box Butte County Extension Office regional workshop on Farming Survey results and new practices for Bean Growers.

• The Museum Board met for their monthly meeting. This is an advisory board that consists of historic minded patrons that are interested in the community and local history.

• The Museum Partners held their quarterly and discussed upcoming programs and projects.

• The Newberry Gift Shop has added many new gift ideas and has a great selection of souvenir tshirts for Alliance and Nebraska. Check it out!

Library:

• Thank you this week to Clint Fankhauser from the landfill who came up and adjusted the lighting fixtures in the library with the lift!

• Technical Services Librarian Emily Nelson updated the Facebook page and website with different programming information, processed ILLs for patrons and book clubs, and made the weekly bookmobile deliveries. There has been an increase of patrons using the contact form on the website to ask questions, so she has been assisting those patrons. She also spent time brainstorming some spring fundraising ideas.

• Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn hosted Story Time this week featuring a Valentine Celebration that included sharing stories, music, Valentine animals, crafting ladybug hearts, and refreshments of fruit snacks and juice. Children have also been enjoying the Valentine search for Sherbet the Unicorn. She also added three new backpacks to the collection, and continued on with Summer Reading preparations.

• Adult Services Librarian Nalani Stewart researched new programming and did an outreach visit to read to the residents of Highland Park.

• Library Clerks Kris Wilder and Pam Becker have been maintaining the reading contest and assisting with programming preparations.

RSVP & Senior Center:

• Staff hosted an incredible thanksgiving dinner at the Senior Center on Valentine’s Day evening. The center was fully decorated and “Merry Me Chicken and pasta” was served to a packed house. There were 77 area seniors in attendance and 45 meals were delivered.

Parks:

• Installed new wiring harness and hardware on equipment so that we can utilize that pickup for snow removal in smaller areas.

• Chipped ice out of 6th St. underpass and pumped the water out multiple times.

• Worked two funerals.

• Cleaned and painted the concrete floor in the bathroom.

• Moved the remaining supplies, parts and other materials out of the old shop and into the new shop.

• Checked and emptied trash as necessary in all parks and at the dog park.

Fire:

• Assisted with Airport Maintenance Worker interview.

• Continued data upload in FlowMSP pre-planning program.

• Chief participated in a Recruitment and Retention Committee meeting with NSVFA.
