BBDC:

• Working with Al on our Rural Workforce Housing Fund application.

• Meeting regularly with our 2 incoming Rural Fellow Interns from UNL.

• Attended Hemingford Chamber meeting.

• Attended Senator Erdman Town Hall this past Saturday.

• Preparing for UNL visit March 3-4 to facilitate various groups on “Community Wellbeing”.

Electric:

• Continue to work on the Flack-Hudson alley rebuild

• Attended our monthly NECC safety meeting

• Replaced a heater in the generation building

• Cleaning and performing monthly inspections in substation buildings

• Moved snow at warehouse, pole yard and substations

• Performed vehicle and equipment repair/maintenance

• “Congratulations!” to Alyssa and Nic on the arrival of their baby boy.

Public Transit:

• 380 riders.

Water/Sewer:

• 10 work orders.

• 5 locates.

• Shut down Elkhorn well to begin repairs to damaged pipe.

• Assist streets department with snow removal.

• Chlorine residuals and water samples completed.

• Repairs to snow equipment.

Landfill:

• 83 customers.

• 147 tons.

• Assist streets with snow removal.

• Install new safety cameras in bale room.

• Repair overhead doors in bale room.

• Repairs to snow equipment completed.

Streets:

• Prepared snow equipment.

Fire:

• Data import meeting with ESO records management system. Go-live date March 1, 2023.

• Chief assisted in interviews for Airport Maintenance Worker.

• Staff provided CPR training to Police Department.

• Chief chaired the Central Panhandle Mutual Aid Association Meeting.

• On-going data import into FlowMSP Pre-plan program.

Airport:

• Hail Storm Claim 2021 – Twin City contract is complete. There are a few smaller items that still

need to be done by staff when weather permits.

• Conducted two interviews for the open airport position.

• Snow, unfortunately, continues to be a necessary focus of maintenance.

Parks:

• Completed snow removal around buildings, parking lots and all sidewalks adjacent to city

property.

• Completed snow removal and prepared for a funeral.

• Finished up mounting the snow plow and necessary wiring to the pickup.

• Removed snow and drained the water from the 6th Street Underpass.

• Fully cleaned the shop work areas and floors after dragging in mud during the thaw.

• Cleaned up some snow in the downtown area.

• Started ordering spring project supplies.

Museum:

• Made cookies for the Nebraska’s Birthday program for all the 4th graders next week.

• Assisted researchers in the Heritage Room.

• Set up for the Nebraska’s Birthday program next week.

• Staff assembled an exhibit from artifacts on loan from five locals. These displays will be up for

several months in the Theater exhibit cases.

Library:

• Monday was an interesting day for us here at the library since we had 286 visitors! Clearly our

patrons are great at preparing for all this winter weather we have been having!

• March is going to be full of reading contests and fun here at the library. We will be having our

annual “Luck of the Irish” contest for the adults for a chance to win a night in Deadwood, a

“Book to Movie” contest for all ages sponsored by the Red Nest family at Alliance Theater, and a

Seuss reading and coloring contest for grades K-3.

• We are so proud of our crochet class students who are now able to work mostly on their own!

Watch for more chances to learn a new crafting skill this spring.

• Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn performed website and book display updates, made March

program preparations, performed backpack maintenance, and completed Juvenile nonfiction

inventory.

• Technical Services Librarian Emily Nelson updated the website and Facebook page with current

programming information. She also processed ILLs for patrons and made the weekly Bookmobile

deliveries.

• Adult Services Librarian Nalani Stewart is continuing with her book sessions at Highland Park,

which has been immensely enjoyed by the residents and also proven to be very rewarding for

Nalani.

• Library Clerks Kris Wilder and Pam Becker have been busy helping with displays and processing

new materials.

RSVP & Senior Center:

• Provided meals for seniors in the community. The weather conditions necessitated home delivery

on several days.

• Continued working on the grant renewal and getting it corrected in the online portal.

HR:

• Scheduling and conducting interviews for open positions.

• Assisting employees with requests and submitting reports as required.

• Facilitated annual Retirement Committee Meeting to review Police, Fire and General Retirement

Plans.

• HR Director Carla Mayhew attended Alliance High School careers class as the guest speaker for

high school students.

• Preparing for 2023 Seasonal Hires.

• Currently accepting applications for Police Officer and City Clerk.

Administration:

• First City Council strategic planning meeting for 2023 held on February 21.
