Riverside Discovery Center is sad to announce the passing of one of our Reeve’s Muntjac, Tyler-Too.
Reeve’s muntjac are one of the smallest members of the deer family and are native to South Asia and Southeast Asia.
Tyler was a month shy of his fourteenth birthday. The Species Survival Plan notated a median life expectancy of 10 years. Tyler was considered elderly. He succumbed to a combination of heart failure and adrenal gland issues after having been monitored closely by his keepers and zoo veterinarians for the past few weeks.
Tyler loved bananas and was full of personality. He will be greatly missed by the staff. One of the most challenging things about working with animals is having to say goodbye. We appreciate the community’s support during this difficult time.
