Rosie Irene Stricker, 93, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Highland Park Care Center.
Rosie was born and raised in Bayard Nebraska on September 24, 1926. This is where Rosie met the love of her life, Walter A. Stricker. She said she always had a bet with her mother that she wouldn’t get married until she was 20 years old. On September 29, 1946, 4 days after her birthday they united in marriage. They moved to Alliance in 1948 farming and starting their family. They survived the blizzard of 1949, they both always talked about that.
Rosie was a very God-fearing, kind-hearted, loving woman. She always welcomed friends and family with a hug and some candy! She loved, and was devoted to raising her 5 kids and then helping raise (babysit) her 10 grandchildren.
Rosie is survived by her children, Donald (Linda) of Alliance, Richard (Connie) of Hemingford, Linda (Lyle) Wood of Minatare, and Wally (Nancy) of Alliance, her grandchildren, Kimberly (Brian) Benda, Kody Stricker all of Alliance, Richie Stricker of Hemingford, Stephanie Olson of Sidney, Christopher (Maggie) Marsh of Omaha, Ryan (Jessica) of Crete, Kadi (Andrew) Bradfield of Cheyenne, Kelsey Wood of Lincoln, Adam (Laura) Stricker of Berea, Wyatt Stricker of Alliance, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and Dearly Loved Family Friends Alaina Schaneman and Hayden McDonald of Hemingford. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Wilma Stricker of Scottsbluff
Rosie was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 2005, her daughter Debra in 2016, and her grandson Casey in 2011, her parents, Jacob and Katherine Martin, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Bayard Cemetery with her beloved.
