Shutout of Chadron Gives Seniors Their Eighth Win

A one hit performance by Alliance pitcher Kegan Nelson led the senior team past Chadron 8 to 0 in a ball game played Tuesday. The matchup was in Alliance as the Spartans improved to 8 and 2 for the year. Nelson gave up the hit in the fourth inning and ended the night with four strikeouts. The Peltz Co plated 4 scores in the fourth inning and 3 more in the fifth to win the 5 inning battle. Alliance finished the game with five hits.

Platte Valley went scoreless in the top of the first while the Spartans scored once. A pair of Chadron errors led to Alliance’s first tally. In the second, PVC threatened but a double play turn by the hosts plus a Nelson k foiled the rally. Inning #3 was a scoreless frame and the game went to the fourth with the Peltz Co up 1 to 0.

Bats were again silent for Chadron in the fourth A single by the guests in the inning ended Nelson’s no hitter but Chadron failed to score. Alliance came alive in the bottom of the frame with 4 runs. Triples by Spartan Espen Lanik and Carver Nemnich were the big hits. An RBI single by Tony Escamilla led to Alliance’s second run. Nemnich’s extra base hit made the score 4 to 0. The final score for the seniors came after a wild pitch by Chadron.

Platte Valley Companies went 1-2-3 in the final at bat with Nelson getting 2 more k’s. The Peltz Co ended the game with a 3 spot in their attempt. Creighton Fritzler started the rally when he reached after being hit by a pitch. Lanik then walked and the bases were then loaded after a hit by Kobe Strom. Alliance’s sixth run came when Escamilla was hit by a pitch. A Chadron wild pitch made the score 7 to 0 and the game came to a conclusion with an RBI hit by Alliance‘s Jackson Esparza.
