Sidney Stuns Prep with 11 in Last at Bat

Monday action had the Alliance Prep club in Sidney for a doubleheader. Game 1 is a contest

the Spartans would like to forget . Down 11 to 1 in the last of the 4th, Sidney plated 11 runs to shock the Peltz Co 12 to 11. A six run top of the fourth gave Alliance a comfortable lead but the hosts rallied to get the W. The Peltz Co had 2 hits for the affair. Pitching for the Preps was starter Quinn Ferguson and relief hurling from Roy Torres, Cooper Gallas and AJ Garcia. Ferguson had 6 Ks.

A pair of errors by Sidney in the top of the first lead to an Alliance score. Ferguson registered 3 strikeouts in the home half and the contest went to the second with the Peltz Co up 1 to 0. Both squads found the scoreboard in frame two. An RBI hit by Ferguson scored Dixon Bair who was hit by a pitch. The hosts also tallied one despite three more strikeouts by Ferguson.

Up 2 to 1, the Spartans scored 3 more in the third. Walks by Gallas and Eli Hamburger plus Silas Lilley-Stone getting hit loaded the bases. Braden Myers then was struck by a pitch to make it 3 to 1. Alliance’s last 2 tallies came on an RBI walk by Navi Singh and an error by Sidney off the bat of Bair. The hosts went scoreless in the bottom of the frame. Heading to the final inning, the Peltz Co was ahead 5 to 1.

Frame #4 was a crazy one with the Preps scoring 6 and Sidney plating 11. Scoring for the Spartans started with Ferguson getting hit by a pitch and scoring on a wild pitch. Both Jace Jensen and Gallas walk to continue the scoring. Hamburger was also plunk to load the sacks for Tee Johnson who plated a run after an error by Sidney. Ahead by 6, the Preps next tally came after an RBI hit by Myers. The final scores came on an RBI walk by Bair, AJ Garcia getting hit by a pitch, and a steal of home. Alliance led 11 to 1 heading to the last of the 4th. Using a combination of walks and hits, Sidney slowly sliced their deficit. A steal of home then finished off the comeback. Final.
