Sox Rally Past Sluggers 19 to 15

Things were looking pretty rough for the Peltz Co Blue Sox heading into their last at bat. Down 10 to 3, Alliance scored 8 times in the top of the fourth and 8 more in the extra inning in downing the Midwest Sluggers 19 o 15 in action Sunday in Scottsbluff. Earlier in the day, the Sox fell to Scottsbluff but rebounded for a thrilling win over Mitchell. Bodee Barber and Zeke Dean did the pitching for the Sox. The Peltz Co finished with 13 hits with Barber leading the offense with 3 knocks.

Hits by Barber and Canton Devlin helped Alliance take a one run advantage after the top the of the first. Mitchell came back with 2 tallies to lead 2 to 1 heading to the second. Alliance knotted the game at 2 in the top of the frame. Eugenio Lopez reaches on an error and scored on an RBI groundout by Cameron Walker that tied the contest at 2. Alliance also got a second inning hit by Slade Harris but no more runs. The Sluggers then broke open the affair with 8 scores in the home of the second. Five hits by Mitchell along with a few misplays by the Sox helped the Sluggers go up 10 to 2 after 2 inning of play.

Slowly, Alliance chipped away from their deficit. The Sox scored once in the top of the third to get within 7. A knock by Barber and sac fly by Devlin made it a 10 to 3 ball game. Midwest failed to score in the bottom of the third. Eight runs in the top of inning #4 gave the Sox the lead. Hits by Walker, Grady Mulhern, Harris, Von Krejci, and Kade Kelley pulled Alliance to within 2. The scoring closed with a passed ball and a steal of home as the Peltz Co grabbed a one run lead at 11 to 10. Extra innings were then needed. Mitchell scored once in the home half to tie that affair at 11.

Alliance’s bats stayed hot in the top of the fifth. The Sox scored 8 more runs to retake the lead. Lopez and Mulhern started the rally with knocks that put the Peltz Co up by 3. A 2 run single by Barber finished the scoring with Alliance leading 19 to 11. Moseman would also single but was stranded on the paths. The Sluggers came back with 4 scores in the bottom of the fifth to make things interesting. Two nice grabs in the outfield by the Sox put the game away with Alliance getting the victory 19 to 15.
