Storm Rallies Past Sox

Seven runs in the bottom of the third powered the Panhandle Storm past the Peltz Co Sox 15 to 14 on Saturday. Alliance put 7 on the board in the top of the third to take a 12 to 8 advantage but a late rally by the Storm was too much to overcome. The contest was game 2 of a tournament in Gering. On the mound for the Sox were starter Slade Harris and reliever Bodee Barber. Alliance had 10 hits in the four inning battle with Barber, Zeke Dean, and Cameron Walker leading the way with 2 apiece.

Runs were plentiful throughout . Alliance hit first and scored 3 thanks to knocks by Barber, Canton Devlin, and Dean. Panhandle answered right back with a three spot in the bottom of the first. A hit by Walker along with an error by the Storm and a passed ball gave the Sox a 5 to 3 lead heading the bottom of inning 2. Four hits by the Storm in the home half helped PH got up 8 to 5 after two innings of action.

Both squads had their best effort offensively in the third. The Peltz Co scored 7 times to surge ahead. Five knocks by the Sox put the Storm deficit at 4. Alliance got hits from Barber, Dean, Eugenio Lopez, Walker, and Grady Mulhern to pull away 12 to 8. The margin was quickly erased as the Storm also put 7 on the board. Heading to the final frame, the Peltz Co was down 4. Alliance made things interesting in their last attempt.
