Tamara “Tammi” Sue Romig Pierce obituary

Tamara “Tammi” Sue Romig Pierce, 72, was born in Alliance, Nebraska on September 26, 1949 and died in Sun City, Arizona on November 14, 2021 with her husband and children by her side.

Tammi always considered herself an Alliance Bulldog and a Nebraska Cornhusker. She never stopped thinking of it as her home. While she lived in Alliance, she spent many weekends with friends, playing in the Pep Band, going to Teen Center dances, having slumber parties and getting into mischief. She returned for reunions whenever she could and knew more about what people were up to than most anyone living in the town still did.

After graduating from high school, Tammi moved to Omaha and then Chicago while working for the railroad, like her dad Clayton. She then moved to South Dakota and attended community college for a bit. While there, she made friends with several women and their adventures would take them to Phoenix, Arizona to an apartment complex. That apartment (and a party that happened later) would be where she met the love of her life, Steven J. Pierce “Lovie”. The two of them were married on November 21, 1970 in Flagstaff, Arizona at the Nativity Church. In April of 1971, they welcomed home their daughter Denise Renee and then almost five years later they added their son Steven M. Pierce to the family. While in Arizona, Tammi, Steve, their friends and family would camp on the weekends in the White Mountains or go fishing in the family boat, drive up to Camp Verde or Flagstaff to spend time with family and eat at La Fonda’s. The family moved to Highlands Ranch, Colorado in 1986. After Denise and Steven graduated high school, Steve and Tammi moved to Elizabeth, Colorado. There they made several more great friends. They had adventures RVing, Jeeping, riding motorcycles, hosting and going to neighborhood parties. Tammi would pick up anyone’s mail in her scooter, keep track of whatever else was going on in the neighborhood and make sure the monthly Bunco games took place. When Steve and Tammi retired, they moved back to Arizona. Between Arizona and Colorado, Tammi worked in the real estate, mortuary and insurance businesses.

Anyone who knew Tammi, would say that she made friends wherever she went, including the grocery store, the Legion, nail salon, campgrounds and many other places. She remembered everyone’s name and many, many details about them, their families, their pets, where they worked, you name it and she knew it about them. She loved wine, her cookbooks, word searches, lighthouses, coloring, painting ceramics, sitting in the car while Steve took her for a drive, going to Dollar General, the Denver Broncos, and being with family and friends. Before she passed, she was getting more and more involved with the American Legion in Sun City. She helped with bingo and was making a new group of friends once again.

She is survived by her husband, her two children, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, her older brother Rodney Romig and sister-in-law Barbara. She is preceded in death by her parents Marguerite and Clayton Romig and in-laws Myrl and William Pierce. A service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society (1.800.227.2345) in her name. Family and friends can leave memories and well-wishes on her virtual obituary site:
