Walk off Hit by Nemnich Leads Seniors Past West Point

A 2 run triple in the bottom of the final inning by Alliance’s Carver Nemnich lifted the Seniors over West Point 3 to 2 in baseball action on Friday. The game was played in Elkhorn. With the win, the Peltz Co now has a 10 and 3 record on the season. The Spartans were down 2 to 1 in the final at bat before Nemnich’s game winner. Nemnich had 2 of Alliance’s 3 hits. On the bump for the Spartans was Espen Lanik who pitched all 7 frames for the Peltz Co. Lanik had 5 strikeouts for the game.

West Point began the battle with a couple of hits to take a 1 to 0 lead in the opener. The Bombers were then denied any more scores after a double play was turned the Alliance defense. Solid pitching by West Point gave Alliance fits thru out the contest. The Spartans were set down in order in innings one and two.

Lanik kept the Peltz Co close throughout. The Spartan lefty had strikeouts in the second, third, and fourth frames to keep it a 1 run game. In the fifth, Alliance tied the battle. The Seniors got on the board after a 3 base hit by Nemnich and a sacrifice fly by Lexton Salcido.

Inning #6 saw both teams have chances but no scores. Lanik had a knock for the Spartans and was left on the bases. West Point pulled ahead in their final at bat. The Bombers used 2 hits to take a 2 to 1 advantage. Alliance began their rally with a walk by Tony Escamilla. Jaxson Esparza was next and he reach after an error by West Point, setting the stage for Nemnich . The Spartan designated hitter was up for the challenge with a walk off triple that gave the Seniors a 3 to 2 win.
