Everything work for the Alliance Prep squad Thursday in matchup with Sidney. The Spartans pounded out 11 hits and limited the hosts to just 2 hits in a 10 to 1 win. It was first W for the Peltz Co for the year. The battle was the first game of a doubleheader played by the 2 rivals. Alliance plated 5 runs in the first inning and never looked back. Three Spartans took the mound with starter Kylar Adams going the first 2 frames. Silas Lilley-Stone and AJ Garcia finished the contest for Alliance. On offense, 4 Spartans collected 2 hits apiece. They were: Ryan Walker, Braden Myers, Carsen Bunnell and Lilley-Stone. The game was a 4 inning affair.
Runs were plentiful in the opening inning for the Spartans. Alliance had 5 players who crossed the plate in the top of the inning to gain an early advantage. Cisco Cody started the scoring when he reached after being struck by a Sidney pitch. Eventually, Cody scored the Spartans first tally on a wild pitch. Bunnell then walked and advanced when Peltz Co first baseman Esai Trejo was hit by a pitch. A Sidney passed ball resulted in run #2. The scoring came to an end with the Peltz Co getting RBI knocks by Lilley-Stone and Myers. After a half of inning of play, Alliance was up 5 to 0. Adams was sharp in the bottom of the inning, striking out 2 Sidney batters and allowing 0 runs.
Four Alliance hits in the top of the second helped the Spartans increase their margin. Knocks by Bunnell, Quinn Ferguson, and Trejo plus an error by the hosts made the scorebook read Alliance 6 to 0. The Peltz Co then got an RBI groundout by Cooper Galles to go up by 7. Lilley-Stone added another hit in the inning for the Preps but no other runners scored. In the bottom of the inning, Sidney didn’t score.
Another tally by Alliance in the third gave the Spartans an 8 run cushion. Hits by Myers and Walker along with an error by Sidney made the score 8 to 0. Lilley-Stone shut out the hosts in the bottom of the inning. In the fourth and final frame, the Peltz Co scored twice to go up by 10. Hits by Walker, Cody, and Bunnell were the highlights of the inning. Heading to the bottom of inning #4, the Spartans were in control 10 to 0.
