Prep Squad Downs Gordon 10 to 1

Gordon hosted a doubleheader on Tuesday between the Alliance Prep team and Gordon preps. The Spartans took game one 10 to 1 thanks to solid pitching by Jackson Devlin and an offense who had 11 hits. Alliance grabbed their third win on the year in game that ended after the fourth due to the run rule. Devlin went the distance for the Peltz Co, giving up just one hit while striking out 8. The Spartans got a 3 hit effort by Silas Lilley-Stone to lead the offense. Esai Trejo and Devlin ended the contest with 2 hits.

Alliance grabbed the early lead with 3 runs in the opening inning. Lilley-Stone started the scoring with his first hit and advanced following walks to Braden Myers and Quinn Ferguson. The Spartans first tally came after an RBI single by Trejo. An RBI groundout by Spartan Ryan Walker made the score 2 to 0. Devlin ended the scoring with a sacrifice fly, giving the visitors a 3 to 0 lead. Security First scored once in the home half of the frame. Gordon used a couple of walks and an error by Alliance to slice their deficit to 2 at 3 to 1. Devlin recorded 3 strikeouts in the inning.

Another Peltz Co run in the second gave Alliance a 3 run cushion. Lilley-Stone had a hit and later crossed home after a sacrifice fly by Ferguson. Three more Devlin k’s denied the hosts any scores in the bottom of the second. 3 Spartan tallies in the third made the score 7 to 1. Four Alliance knocks, one each by Devlin, Kyler Adams, Cooper Galles, and Lilley-Stone put the Alliance advantage at 6. Security First went scoreless in their third inning at bat.

Three tallies by the Peltz Co in their final at bat put the game away . Hits by Ferguson and Trejo began the spree. Walker drove in run #8 with a bases loaded walk. A 2 run triple by Devlin finished the scoring. Gordon went scoreless in the home half and the matchup ended with the Prep club winning 10 to 1
