Game 2 for the Alliance Navy team in the Conley tournament on Friday was a tough one against Casper. The Spartans held a brief lead but eventually fell 14 to 6. Alliance led 2 to 1 after the first inning but 8 straight scores by the Drillers was too much too overcome. With the defeat, the Peltz Co has a record of 15-18-1 for the season. Jackson Smith was the Alliance starter with Israel Garcia pitching in relief. The Navy did record 10 hits for the contest with Braeden Clarke and Kegan Rodriguez leading the way with 2.
CBC scored first in the top of the opener. A pair of doubles by the guests put them up 1. The Spartans came back with 2 spot in the bottom of the inning hits by Clarke and Rodriguez. An RBI groundout by Fletcher Moseman gave the Spartans a 1 run lead.
Two more runs by Casper in the second made it a 3 to 2 game. The visitors used 2 singles and a double to take a one run advantage. Alliance went scoreless in the home half. Inning 3 was a big one for CBC as the Drillers plated 6 runs. Casper led 9 to 3 heading to the bottom of the inning. Alliance got one back on knocks by Creighton Fritzler and Moseman. After 3 complete, the Peltz Co trailed 9 to 3.
Inning 4 had the Drillers score once to go up by 7. Alliance would get a hit by Lexton Salcido in the home half but no scores. Casper failed to score in the fifth while the Spartans scratched one across. A triple by EJ Garcia got the Navy club off to a promising start. Garcia then scored following an RBI groundout by Casyn Rodriguez. Hits ensued by Clarke and Kegan Rodriguez but both runners were stranded. Another tally by CBC in the sixth put the Alliance deficit at 11 to 4. The Spartans closed this gap in the bottom of the frame with 2 runs. A two run scoring triple by Tanner Salcido made it an 11 to 6 contest.
Casper put the game away with 3 tallies in their final try. The Drillers used a big 2 run double to go up 14 to 6. Alliance would get a hit by Smith in the seventh but no scores. Final. Rapid City 14 Alliance 6
