Complete Game by Clarke Helps Seniors Surge Past Wranglers

A four hit shutout by Spartan pitcher Braeden Clarke lifted Alliance past Fort Morgan 8 to 0 on Friday. The Spartans downed the Wranglers in the late game of the Conley tournament which was played in Alliance. Clarke hurled all 5 innings and struck out 4 in getting the win. With the victory, the Peltz Co now has a 15 and 4 record for the season. The Seniors put the game away with 5 tallies in the final at bat in the 5th frame. Alliance finished the contest with 7 hits. Getting 2 knocks apiece for the Spartans were Espen Lanik and Creighton Fritzler.

Two k’s in the first inning by Clarke got Alliance off to a strong start. A leadoff double by Lanik started action in the home half. The Spartan center fielder was unfortunately left on the bases and the game went to the second with no scores. Fort Morgan went scoreless in the top of inning 2 with Clarke getting another strike out. The Peltz Co broke thru with a run in the home half. Fritzler singled and moved into scoring position after an error by the Wranglers. Alliance’s first run came when an RBI groundout by Jaxson Esparza made it a 1 to 0 ball game.

No runs were scored by neither side in the third. Inning #4 had the guests failing to score while the hosts plated 2 runs. The Peltz Co got knocks by Fritzler and Esparza to begin the spree. Cody Galles was next and his run scoring hit put the seniors up 2 to 0. The scoring ended for the Spartans with an RBI hit by Lanik. Heading to the fifth, the Peltz Co enjoyed a 3 to 0 lead.

Clarke ended his evening with a 1-2-3 frame in the top of the fifth. Alliance closed the matchup with 5 tallies in the bottom of inning five. Free passes to Tony Escamilla, Fritzler, and Esparza loaded the bases. Escamilla would swipe home for the Spartans’ fourth run. A miscue then by the Wranglers costed the visitors 2 more runs. Lanik then got a free pass as the seniors continued their rally. The Peltz Co next run came on an RBI hit by Carver Nemnich . A steal of home by Lanik finished the game with Alliance getting the 8 to 0 win.
