Round 2 of the Conley tournament featured an early contest between the Navy squad and Rapid City. The Spartans fell behind 6 to 0 in the first and couldn’t recover, losing 11 to 2 in a four inning contest. With the defeat, the Peltz Co now has a record of 15-17-1.
The game was played Friday in Alliance. Spartan Logan Freiberger had 2 of the hosts 5 hits. On the mound for the Peltz Co was starter Miguel Galvan and relievers Tanner Salcido and Jayden Garcia.
Six early tallies by the guests got Rapid off to a quick start. 5 hits along with a couple of walks made it a 6 to 0 ball game. The Peltz Co didn’t score in their first inning at bat. Trouble continued for the Spartans in the second with the Sliders getting 5 more runs. Down 11 to 0, Alliance scored once in the home half. Jayden Garcia walked and scored on an RBI double by Freiberger . Neither team scored in inning 3 with Navy club getting a hit from Teagan O’Gorman.
Inning #4 was a scoreless one for Rapid. Down 11 to 1, Alliance scored once in their final attempt. The Peltz Co got knocks from Galvan and Freiberger but it wasn’t enough. Final. Rapid 11 Navy 2
