Several area track squads ventured to Mitchell on Thursday for the Mitchell Invite. The Sidney girls were first in the team race with 90 points with Chadron ending second with 68. Scottsbluff was third with 58. The Bluffs won the boy’s division with 133 while finishing second was Sidney with 124 tallies. Alliance had 45.5 which was good for third overall. With 31 points, the Alliance girls ended 8th.
Eighteen schools took part.
The Bulldogs had a pair of first place finishes. Sophomore Tanner Salcido won the boy’s triple jump with a leap of 43’6. AHS also got a gold medal performance from their boy’s 2 mile relay team. The Dogs were first with a time of 8:28. Team members consisted of: William Zurn, Devin Graham, Asher Saka, and Trevor Zurn. Alliance was third in both the 400 and mile relay races. Saka was also third in the 2 mile.
Top placers for the Lady Bulldogs came in the 400 relay, the mile, the mile relay, and in the long jump. AHS was second in the 400 relay with a time of 52.3. Members: Kaelyn Mazanec, Brooke Bailey, Lexi Lopez, and Danielle Cole. Lopez was third in the long jump while Kimber Freiberger was third in the mile. In the mile relay, the Dogs got the silver with a time of 4:31. Running the 4 X 400 were Bailey, Paz Cody, Reese Armstrong, and Cole.
