A very successful sport’s season extended Friday for the Hemingford junior high boys. With 147 points, the Bobcats repeated as champs at the junior high Pan Handle Conference track meet in Morrill. Nine schools participated in the event. St. Agnes was second with 82 points while Cody-Kilgore ended third with 79 points. In girl’s action, it was Alliance St. Agnes first with 139 points with Hemingford second with 120 tallies. Hyannis finished third with 56 points.
Hemingford received 7 first place performances on day with Cooper Gallas and Zane Frost leading the attack. Frost won the 800 and the shot while Gallas was first in the 100 and 200 hurdle races. In the discus, the Cats got a gold medal effort from Rye Jespersen. Seventh grade Kade Johnston was the winner in the high jump. The Cats also won the mile relay with members: Dallas Woltman, Gallas, Frost, and Kolten Covey. Hemingford was solid in the girl’s relays, winning the mile and 2 mile events. Running the mile relay were: Benni Sorensen, Atlee Gasseling, Emerson Horstman, and Addelyn Bryner. Gold medals in the 2 mile relay went to: Lanee Sorensen, Kennedy Mahony, Harper Henderson, and Bryner.
