With an impressive 223 points, the Hemingford boy’s high school track squad won the Pan Handle Conference meet on Friday. Morrill hosted the event with 8 schools taking part. The Cats have won the last 4 team titles. Hyannis was second with 125 tallies while taking third with 68 was Hay Springs. Crawford was the champion on the girl’s side with 112 points. Second was Morrill who ended with 99 while the Lady Bobcats took third with 70 points.
Sophomore Jayce Haas was Hemingford’s top performer with golds in all four of his events. Haas won the 100, 200, and 400 plus ran in the first place mile relay. Joining Haas in the 4 X 400 relay were: Tayten Haas, Keirith Yale, and Lucas Sulzbach. Junior Austin Benda was a double gold medalist, winning the 800 and mile. Taking first in both the shot and discus was Tayten Haas while Yale was first in the high jump. Other first place finishers for the Cats were: Eli Hunter in the pole vault, and Fletcher Moseman in the 2 mile.
Hemingford had three second place efforts in the girl’s division. Taking the silver in the 2 mile was Ainslee Woltman while the Lady Cats were second in both the 400 and mile relays. 400 relay members: Kail Miles, Anna Anderson, Desilee Hinman, and Teagen Thompson. Hemingford team for the 4 X 400 were: Teagan Yale, Hinman, Thompson, and Anderson.
