Two pitchers-starter Casyn Rodriguez and Jackson Devlin-combined for a three hitter that carried the Alliance Junior team past the Prep club 16 to 2 in action in Alliance on Monday. Leading the offense for the Spartans was Teagen O’Gorman who ended with 3 of the 15 Peltz Co hits. Four Juniors, Miguel Galvan, Jace Jensen, Jayden Garcia, and Rodriguez, added 2 hits each as the Spartans improved to 2 and 0 on the year. Taking the hill for the Prep club were Quinn Ferguson and Dixon Bair. The Peltz Co Prep squad had three hits for the contest, getting singles from Ferguson, Esai Trejo, and AJ Garcia. Spartan Juniors scored in all their innings and the game was called in the fourth frame.
An RBI double by Jensen in the home half gave the Juniors an early 1 to 0 margin. With 2 tallies in the top of the second, the Preps grabbed the lead. Hits by Trejo and Garcia started the rally. Cooper Gallas was next and his RBI groundout tied the game at 1. The Preps then took the lead with Bair walking with the bases full. Down 2 to 1, the Spartans put 4 into the book in the bottom of the second. The inning began with Kyler Hamel reaching on an error and a hit by Rodriguez. An RBI double by Israel Garcia was next that tied the contest at 2. O’Gorman ensued and his double made it 4 to 2. The frame closed with hits by Galvan and Jensen and the Juniors up 5 to 2.
Ferguson would single for the Preps in the top of inning #3 but was left on the bases. Eight big tallies by the Spartan Juniors in the home half put the contest away. Carson Stull began the hit parade with a double. RBI hits followed by O’Gorman, Jayden Garcia, Hamel, and Rodriguez that made it 13 to 2 after three innings of action.
After holding the Preps scoreless in the top of the fourth, the ball game ended in the bottom of the frame with the Juniors scoring three times. Knocks by O’Gorman, Galvan, and Jackson Shelmadine finished the game with the Juniors winning 16 to 2.
