Hamels Handles Gordon

Six innings of solid starting pitching by Kyler Hamel powered the Alliance Juniors past Security First 8 to 2 in baseball action on Friday. Hamel was sharp throughout, striking out 8 Regulators in getting the victory. Reliever Carson Stull had a hitless seventh for the Peltz Co. At the dish, the Spartans hammered out 8 hits and were led by 2 knocks apiece from Jace Jensen and Miguel Galvan. Alliance scored 4 runs in the first and were never threaten.

Two strikeouts by Hamel in the top of the first got the Spartans off to a nice start. In the home half, the Juniors offense began to click. The Peltz Co scored 4 times to take the early advantage. Hits by Teagan O’Gorman and Galvan led to the first tally. Jensen was next and his hit made it 2 to 0. The rally continued with an RBI double by Creighton Fritzler. Up 3 to 0, the scoring closed with an RBI groundout by Braeden Clarke. No runs were scored in the second with Hamel recording two more strikeouts.

Inning #3 was a scoreless frame with Alliance getting a hit from Jaxon Poss. Gordon got on the board in the top of the fourth. The guests had a pair of hits and closed to 4 to1. Alliance failed to score in the bottom of the inning. Another K by Hamel was the highlight of the top of the fifth while Peltz Co added to their margin with 2 runs in their at bat. Hits again by Galvan, Jensen, and Clarke made it a 6 to 1 game after five innings of play.

Two more Spartan tallies in the last of the sixth gave Alliance some breathing room. After Security first failed to score in the top of inning 6, the Juniors scored twice to go up by 7. Walks to Israel Garcia and O’Gorman set the table. A steal of home made it 7 to 1 while an error by the visitors made the board read Alliance 8 Gordon 1. The inning ended with a hit by Jayden Garcia and Alliance ahead by 7. Stull pitched the last inning for Alliance. The guests pushed one across on an error and a passed ball but it wasn’t enough.
