A three run fourth inning powered the Chadron Dingers past the Alliance Peltz Co Blue Sox 8 to 7 in game 2 on a doubleheader played Saturday in Alliance. The Sox captured game one but a late rally by the Dingers earned Chadron a split. Taking the mound for the Sox were Levi Escamilla, Canton Devlin, and Bodee Barber. Alliance finished with 4 hits with Devlin leading the offense with 2. With the loss, Alliance now has a 2 and 2 record.
Alliance hit first and scored once in the first. A double by Devlin was the lone hit. Devlin would then steal home as the Sox went ahead 1 to 0. Chadron’s bats were silent in the bottom of the frame. In the top of the second, Alliance failed to score. Three tallies in the home half enabled the Dingers to take the lead. A couple of miscues by the Sox helped Chadron take a 3 to 1 advantage heading to the third.
Frame #3 was a good one for the Peltz Co. Alliance retook the margin with 5 tallies. A walk by Parks Sylvester and followed by an RBI hit by Grady Mulhern, making the count 3 to 2. Zeke Dean was next and his walk kept the rallying going. Two passed balls by Chadron scored Dean and tied the game at 3. The scoring continued with another knock by Devlin and the Sox pushing 3 more across the plate. Heading to the bottom of the third, Alliance enjoyed a 6 to 3 lead. Chadron counter with 2 to make things interesting in the bottom of the frame. The Dingers used a double and walk to draw closed at 6 to 5.
Alliance increased their margin in their last at bat in the top of the fourth. A hit by Sox Von Krejci was followed by a Dinger error as Alliance went up 7 to 5. Three tallies by Chadron in the bottom of the inning gave the Dingers the W. A pair of walks plus a hit and an RBI groundout finish the ball game with Chadron getting the victory 8 to 7.
