On Thursday, the Alliance Peltz Co Blue Sox played the Alliance Aces in doubleheader action. Game 1 had the Sox used a big first inning to down the Aces 14 to 5. The 10U plated 10 tallies in their first at bat then added 4 more in the bottom of the second in picking the win. Getting hits for the Sox were: Marshall Moseman, Canton Devlin, Von Krejci, and Parks Sylvester. The Aces got knocks from Joseph Vela, Iric Johnson, and Landon Gentleman. On the hill for the Blue Sox were Slade Harris and Devlin while toeing the rubber for the Aces was Ben Smith and Andre Acosta.
Both teams put scores in the book in the opening frame. Hits by Vela and Johnson helped the Aces surge ahead 4 to 0. The Sox responded with 10 scores in the bottom of inning #1. Walks to Zeek Dean and Bodee Barber set the stage for the big inning. Steals of home, walks, wild pitches, and passed ball ensued as the Sox went up 5 to 4. Sylvester followed with a hit as the Sox lead grew to 6 to 4. The inning came to a close with 4 more Sox tallies thanks to a couple of Ace’s errors and wild pitches. After one inning of play, the Sox were up 10 to 4.
A hit by Gentleman and a walk helped the Aces get close in the top of the second. Overall, the Aces would push one across to make it a 10 to 5 affair. The Peltz Co answered right back with a 4 spot in the bottom of the second. Knocks from Moseman, Devlin, and Krejci had the scoreboard reading Sox 13 Aces 5. An RBI groundout by Cameron Walker ended the inning with the Sox on top14 to 5. Three strikeouts by Devlin highlighted the top of the third as the Sox went on for the 14 to 5 win.
