Dean’s Three Hits Enable Sox to Slip Past Expos

Win #5 was a close one for the Peltz Co Blue Sox on Saturday. Alliance survived a late scare and defeated the Westco Expos 11 to 10. Their record now stands at 5-7-1 on the year. A three hit effort by Sox Zeke Dean keyed the W. Overall, the Sox had 10 hits. The game was their third match of the day and was played in Gering. On the bump were starter Canton Devlin and relief pitcher Marshall Moseman. Alliance was up 10 to 3 early on then held for the victory.

A two run double by Dean was the highlight of the top of the first. The knock gave Alliance a 4 to 0 margin. Eugenio Lopez also had a hit in the frame as the Peltz Co raced to an early 5 to 0 lead. Westco responded with 3 runs in the home half and the game went to the second with the Sox up 5 to 3.

Five more tallies in the second gave Alliance a nice advantage. Hits by Cameron Walker, Slade Harris, Moseman, Devlin, and Dean made it a 10 to 3 contest. The Expos failed to score in the bottom of the inning. Another hit by Walker was the highlight of the third but he was left on the bases. Meanwhile, Westco began to rally. The Expos scored 3 time in the bottom of the frame and closed the gap to 10 to 6.

Alliance bats again went cold in the fourth as the Peltz Co didn’t score. One more tally by the Expos in the their attempt in the 4th sliced their deficit to 3. Hits by Bodee Barber and Dean gave the Sox one more insurance run in the top of the fifth. Westco used a couple of hits to get within one in their last at bat but would get no closer.
