Sox Cage Cats 18 to 12

Scottsbluff hosted a pair of games on Sunday for the Blue Sox. Alliance opened the day with an 18 to 12 victory over Douglas. The Sox pounded out 12 hits for the affair. Collecting 2 each were: Marshall Moseman, Canton Devlin, Zeke Dean, and Parks Sylvester. Eugenio Lopez started the contest with Devlin tossing the last 2 plus frames. Alliance jumped out to a big lead and withstood a late surge by the Traveling Cats.

All Alliance early on. The Peltz Co plated 6 in the first. Big knocks by Bodee Barber, Moseman, Devlin, Lopez, and Von Krejci resulted in a comfortable lead. Lopez had a clean bottom of the first as the Sox took a 6 to 0 lead. Seven more tallies in the top of the second made it 13 to 0. A 2 run hit by Sylvester was the highlight. The Blue Sox took advantage of a few walks and a couple of Cat’s error to build a big margin. Douglas went scoreless in their second inning at bat and the affair went to the third with the Peltz Co enjoying a 13 run lead.

Frame 3 had Alliance score twice thanks to rbi swings by Devlin and Dean. The Travel Cats responded with 8 runs in the home half to pull within 7. A knock by Sylvester in the fourth was all the Sox could muster as Alliance failed to score. Douglas scored twice in the inning to make it 15 to 10. In their last attempt in the fifth, the Peltz Co plated three. Hits from Kade Kelley, Moseman, Devlin, and Dean helped the Sox go up by 8. In the last of inning #5, the Cats pushed 2 across but it wasn’t enough. Final. Alliance 18
