Alliance headed east for three games over the weekend. West Point was their first opponent. The game was played Friday in Elkhorn. Using a strong five inning effort by Braeden Clarke and the bat of Espen Lanik, the Peltz Co down the Bombers 16 to 2. Clarke went the distance and struck out 3. Alliance ended the game with 14 hits with Lanik leading the offense with 3.
West Point hit first and went scoreless while the Seniors had success in their first attempt. A hit by Lanik started the scoring. After a walk to Nason Thompson, the Peltz Co went up 2 to 0 on a double by Tony Escamilla. Alliance got three more runs after knocks by Carver Nemnich, Jaxson Esparza, and Mike Johnson. Heading to the second, the Spartans were up 5 to 0.
Two strikeouts by Clarke in the top of inning 2 kept the Bombers off the board. Hits by Lanik and Kobe Strom set Alliance’s sixth tally. An RBI groundout by Thompson made it 6 to 0. West Point answered back with 2 in the top of the third. Up by 4, the Peltz Co added to their advantage with 3 in the home half. Hits by Nemnich, Esparza, and Lanik along with RBI groundouts by Jaxon Poss and Kegan Rodriguez gave the Seniors a seven run cushion.
Alliance turned a double play in the fourth to kept their margin. The Seniors put the contest in the bag in the bottom of inning #4 with 7 tallies. Up 9 to 2, the Spartan’s scoring began with a Thompson knock and Escamilla and Esparza reaching after getting struck by a pitch. RBI walks by Johnson and Poss ensued as the Seniors went ahead 11 to 2. The scoring came to a finish with the Peltz Co receiving rbi hits from Rodriguez, Strom, and Thompson. Another DP by the Alliance defense in the top of the fifth ended the contest.
