Sidney finished off a 2 game doubleheader sweep of Alliance in the night cap 6 to 5 in action on Monday. Alliance lost the opener 12 to 11. The contest was similar to the first with the Spartans falling in the last inning. Sidney tallied 2 in their final attempt in getting the W. Jace Jensen started for the Peltz Co and went 4 plus frames. Also tossing was Silas Lilley-Stone. The Preps closed with 4 knocks. Action was played in Sidney.
Runs were scarce in the first with both squads going scoreless. In the second, Alliance pushed one across. Jensen walked and scored on an error by the hosts. Sidney then tied the contest in the home half. Jensen would have 2 strikeouts in the frame. Two more runs by the Peltz Co in the third gave the Preps a 3 to 1 advantage. RBI walks with the bases loaded by Dixon Bair and Jensen made it 3 to 1. Alliance shined on D in the last of the third. Jensen had another K and catcher Cooper Gallas threw out a Sidney runner trying to steal. After three innings of play, Alliance led by 2.
An RBI swing by Gallas in the top of inning #4 gave the Spartans a 3 run cushion. The hosts scored twice in the bottom half to pull within one. Both teams got one back in the fifth. The Peltz Co got knocks from AJ Garcia and Jensen to surge ahead 5 to 3. Sidney came back with a tally in the bottom of the fifth to cut their deficit back to one. In the sixth, the Prep club got a hit by Quinn Ferguson but he was left on the bases. Two runs in their last at bat by Sidney then ended the match with Alliance falling 6 to 5.
