Area 7 district play in McCook continued on Sunday for the Spartan Juniors with a game against B&C. Alliance got four hits from Teagen O’Gorman and three perfect frames from starter Braeden Clarke in defeating Gering 15 to 0. With the W, the Peltz Co improves to 2 and 0 for the tourney and 34 and 15 for the season. Also tossing was Miguel Galvan who had a hitless fourth inning. Alliance scored 4 times in both the first and second frames and added 6 more in the third. Along with the 4 knocks by O’Gorman, the Juniors had 2 hits each from Casyn Rodriguez, Clarke, and Galvan. The Spartans closed the game with 13 hits total.
B&C went in order in their at bat in the top of the first while the Juniors plated 4. Jackson Shelmadine walk to start the scoring and advanced after a hit by O’Gorman. Next was Galvan whose single made it 1 to 0. Alliance then got a 2 run swing by Clarke to extend their advantage. The inning finished with a hit by Rodriguez and a passed ball. After one, the Peltz Co led 4 to 0.
Clarke recorded 2 strikeouts in the second as Gering went down quietly. Alliance added to their margin with a 4 spot in the home half. Shelmadine scored on an RBI hit by O’Gorman to make it 5 to 0. After another knock by Galvan, the Spartan’s sixth tally came on a passed ball. A 2 run hit by Rodriguez concluded the inning with Alliance up by 8.
Frame #3 was another perfect for Clarke who fanned 2 in the inning. The bats for the Juniors remained hot in the bottom of the third as the Spartans tallied 6. Alliance’s ninth score came on an Israel Garcia walk, a Gering error, and a balk. O’Gorman followed with an RBI double. The double trend went on with the Peltz Co getting 2 base hits by Clarke, Jaxon Poss, and Jace Jensen. Heading to the fourth, the Juniors led 14 to 0. Alliance kept the shutout by turning a double play in the top of the 4th. The contest ended with one Spartan tally in the bottom of the frame. Shelmadine double and cross on an RBI swing by O’Gorman.
