This year, there were two Alliance teams playing at the APA World Championships in Las Vegas. There were players who represented 3 teams out of Alliance.
The “Lucky Styx” 9-ball team that plays out of Bowlmore Lanes made it to the 3rd bracket, just shy of the money round. Lost the first game, won the second, and lost the third in a double-elimination team competition. The Lucky Styx team consists of Scott Bolinger, Angela Ayers, Justin Bossell, Doug Shimp, Blas Leyva, Ken Davis, Eric Gosnell, and Marilyn Bolinger.
The “Lucky Breaks” team made it to the 3rd round, winning the first two games and losing the third. The Lucky Breaks team consists of Team Captains from the Lucky Styx team out of Bowlmore and Break N Run, who plays out of the Gathering Spot. Members on that team are Tammy Coward “Team Captain”, Scott Bolinger, and Angela Ayers.
In the Mega tournament doubles competition, Harley Keenan from the Break N Run team out of the Gathering Spot and Bruce Suetsugu, who is a member of the 9-Lives and Break N Run team that plays out of the Gathering Spot, made it to the second round in a single-elimination doubles tournament.
Marilyn Bolinger from the Lucky Styx team out of Bowlmore competed in a 9-Ball single-elimination tournament called a Mini, in the 1-2-3 level, winning all her games and placing 1st in that tournament.
Statement from Scott Bolinger (Lucky Styx Team Captain). It was a very busy week. There were competitors from several different countries (USA, Canada, Japan, and Singapore). There were more than 400 tables, and roughly 16,000 people in two weeks of competition, with around $1.3 million cash payout. I played in the second week of competition. We didn’t get much of a break until Friday. The teams trained hard and represented well. Outside of the tournaments, several professional pool players ran seminars all week. There were Jeanette “The Black Widow) Lee, Tom “Dr. Que” Rossman, Florian “Venom” Kohler, and Fedor “Ghost” Gorst in attendance.

Team Captains World Championship finals: The final match of the Team Captains Championship paired Cuefoundland Crew of St. John’s, Newfoundland, against Saginaw Bay Misfits of Saginaw, Michigan. Cue Foundland Crew took 1st place and received $10,000 in winnings.
9-Ball World Championship Finals: Rookies Schofield of Parma Heights, Ohio, defeated Shorty’s Popcorn Crew of Baxley, Ga., in the finals. The victory earned Rookies Schofield $20,000 in 1st Place prize money.
Final matches were live-streamed.
Bolinger: “One of the things I joked about with my team is telling them that “if you’re not waking up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat having nightmares about playing pool, then you’re not playing enough.”
