Hemingford’s scoreboard operator had a busy night in Friday’s football contest between the host Bobcats and Gordon Rushville. HHS scored 40 points in the opening period and cruised to an 80 to 18 victory over the Mustangs. The Cats go to 2 and 0 for the season. Running back Zaine Feist led the offense, scoring 4 touchdowns and ending the night with 222 yards on just 12 attempts. Hemingford led 64 to 12 at halftime and scored twice in the second half.
Up 14 to 6, the Bobcats got a 42 yard TD run from Feist to increase their lead. The PAT was good and with 3:53 showing on the clock, the hosts were up 22 to 6. Following a score by the Mustangs, HHS got the ball back to Feist who scored on a 64 yard scamper. The extra good was no good and with 3:08 left in the quarter, HHS was up 28 to 12. The period closed with 2 more TDs by the hosts. Quarterback Carson Haas connected with Lucas Sulzbach to end the scoring. The play covered 46 yards and the period ended with the Bobcats ahead 40 to 12.
Hemingford added 24 more points in the second and took a 66 to 12 lead at half. In the fourth, quarterback Cooper Gallas hit Warner Tallon for an 18 yard TD pass that increased the Cat margin. Final Hemingford 80 Gordon Rushville 18
