Morgan Lyle Newman obituary

Morgan Lyle Newman, longtime Stillwater resident and insurance agent with the Newbearry Agency, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, at the age of 79 years.
The son of the late Clarence and Marjorie McQuain Newman, Lyle was born on October 5, 1942, in Stillwater and was raised and educated in the Morrison, OK area, graduating from Morrison High School.
He was united in marriage to Bulah Faye Summers on Sept. 2, 1967, in Richardson, TX and to this union one daughter, Wendy was born in 1968.
Lyle was an educator, receiving his teacher’s certificate from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK. He took his first teaching job in Cortez, CO, teaching social science and coaching. He later taught and coached in Richardson, TX. He then returned to Stillwater, Oklahoma to receive his master’s degree from Oklahoma State University. Following graduation, he taught and coached at Perkins before moving to Alliance, NE where he also taught and coached. Following his retirement in Alliance, he started a community ed program. While in Alliance he was able to live his dream of farming and then became an insurance agent. In 1988 he was transferred to Rapid City, S.D. to start an insurance agency. In 1992, he had the opportunity to return to Stillwater to be with family and continue his career in the insurance industry.
Lyle’s pride and joy was his grandkids. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. While in Alliance he played with the Southern Comfort Band and in South Dakota the Black Hills Express and locally played with the Oklahoma Company Cowboys. He loved taking his grandkids to the pecan orchard to teach them everything about pecans.
Lyle is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Bulah Faye Newman of the home; one daughter Wendy Bearry and her husband John of Glencoe; one sister Marian Couey and her husband Rod of Guthrie; one brother Robert Allen Newman of Bentonville, AR; three grandchildren, Jonathon Bearry and his wife Gwen of Stillwater, Justin Bearry and Josh Bearry both of Glencoe; two great-grandchildren, Emma Louise and Elliott Morgan Bearry; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant brother, James Newman and one sister-in-law Pat Newman.
The family will be having a memorial service on March 12th 11:30am – located at the Payne County Expo Center Community Building in Stillwater, OK.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, leukemia research in his memory.
