The city of Alliance received the Certified Community Designation through Box Butte Development Corporation at the Alliance City Council meeting on July 21.
Alliance has been a certified community since 2009. The designation, according to the Alliance City Council Narrative, is given through the Nebraska Department of Economic Development to communities that show “their preparedness for business growth and their readiness to meet the needs of companies seeking new business and industrial locations.”
Alliance is one of 40 communities in the State with the designation of Certified Community, which is a critical factor in receiving state aid for economic development in the community.
Mayor Mike Dafney thanked Chelsie Herian, Executive Director of Box Butte Development Corporation, for her work in promoting growth within the city of Alliance through BBDC.
