Alliance Volleyball Team Wins McCook Tournament

On Saturday, Sept. 18, the Alliance Volleyball team traveled to compete in the McCook Tournament. The team played three games in total, winning all of them, coming home champions of the tournament.

The first game was against Decatur Community, and the bulldogs won in two sets. The first set’s final score was 25-7 and the second set was 25-13. Senior Amauri Browning led in kills for this game with eight, Sophomore Jaelynne Clarke contributed four kills, Senior Shelbee Burke had three and Juniors Haley Weare and Kenna Montes both contributed two kills. Senior Avah Steggall led in serving with four aces, and Browning and Weare each had two. Steggall also had eleven assists, while Weare had five.

Cambridge was the second team the bulldogs played, and they won in three sets. Alliance lost the first set 22-25, but came back fighting in the second and third winning 25-20 and 25-19. Montes led in kills in this game with a total of ten, Clarke had seven, Browning added five and Burke, Weare and Steggall each contributed three. Montes also had three blocks in this game, while Steggall and Clarke each had one. Browning contributed a total of 25 digs in this game, Clarke had 19 and Montes had 15. Steggall and Weare each had twelve assists.

Alliance won the third and final game of the day, in the championship round, in two sets. The first was won 25-22, and the second set was 25-16. Steggall and Clarke lled in kills with seven, and Browning, Weare and Montes each contributed five, while Burke had two. Clarke had twelve digs in this game and Motes had eleven. Weare led in assists with fifteen, and Steggall was close behind with twelve.

Overall, the Alliance Bulldog Volleyball team had a great weekend and were able to improve their record to 12-3.
