Bulldog stadium was the place to be on Tuesday. Six Middle School track teams took advantage of the nice weather and put up some impressive performances. For the St. Agnes Crusaders, SA finished second in the team race in the seventh grade boy’s division and second with the 8th grade girls. Chadron swept all four levels. The Cards won the 7th grade boy’s trophy with 142 points with the Academy second, scoring 93. In the 8th grade boy’s level, Chadron was first with 137 points while Alliance Middle School was the runner up with 92. St. Agnes was third with 46.
On the girl’s side, Chadron won the 7th grade division with 150 point. AMS was second with 114 while the Lady Crusaders were fourth with 50 tallies. With an impressive 217 points, the 8th grade girl’s squad from Chadron was first with the Academy next with 77 points.
St. Agnes had numerous first place efforts. Leading the way for the boy’s group was 8th grade Tatum Devlin who won the 800, the pole vault, and was a member of the first place mile relay team. The Crusaders also won the 2 mile relay in the 7th grade division. Also claiming gold in the 7th grade level were Liam Pena who won the long jump and Rhett Stabnow who won the pole vault.
Three golds by Alexis Shelmadine and Penn Vergil paced the Lady Crusaders. Shelmadine was first in the 8th grade 100, pole vault, and the 100 hurdles. Her vault of 9’6 is a new school record. Taking the gold in the 7th grade long jump, mile, and high jump was Vergil. 7th grade hurdler Quinn Robertson was the champ in both 100 and 200 hurdle race while finishing first in the 8th grade high jump Aubrey Dudden. Her leap of 5’0 tied the school record. The team of Robertson, Dudden, Grace Shrewsbury and Kale Hulquist was first in the 400 relay with a time of 56.6.
