A trip to next week’s state track meet was on the line on Tuesday in Alliance. Bulldog Stadium hosted the Class B district 6 meet with 10 schools taking part. Winning the boy’s team race were the Bearcats from Scottsbluff who ended with 105 points. Cozad took second with 97 tallies and finishing third with 96 points was Gothenburg. The Alliance boys had a sold day with 39 points which was good for fifth overall. AHS will be sending 7 athletes to Omaha, led by senior Trevor Zurn who qualified in all four of his events. Zurn, along with brother Will, Asher Saka and Devin Graham were the champs in the two mile relay. Their winning time of 8:06 is one of the top times in Class B. Zurn will also run the 800 and the mile at state. Sophomore Tanner Salcido qualified in both the long and triple jumps. Alliance ended the day with a fourth place finish in the mile relay and their time of 3:25 got a wild card and spot at state. Members: Jackson Shelmadine, Jackson Devlin, Graham, and Trevor Zurn.
