Elsie Helen (Vogel) Brandt died on April 23, 2020 in Phoenix, AZ. She was born on April 7, 1927 in Alliance, NE to William H. and Rosa (Knapp) Vogel.
Elsie attended rural Box Butte School District #58, graduating from Alliance High School in 1945. During and after graduation she worked at Thiele’s Orange Tea Room, Scoggin’s Jewelry in the Alliance Theatre Building and Alliance Line Wire Transfer as a billing clerk.
On September 14, 1947, she was married to Raymond Eugene Brandt at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 6th & Niobrara – now located at Dobbie Lee’s Frontier Town. After marriage, they moved to Fort Collins, CO where Ray was a freshman in Veterinary Medicine. After graduation in 1951, they moved back to Alliance.
Upon Ray’s retirement from the Alliance Animal Clinic in 1983, Ray and Elsie moved and bought a retirement villa in Phoenix, AZ. Elsie enjoyed bridge, golf and dancing in both Phoenix and Alliance.
Elsie was past-president of the Box Butte General Hospital Auxiliary and Sky View Ladies Golf. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Alliance and Mountain View Lutheran Church in Phoenix.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Becky) Brandt of Council Bluffs, IA and James (Shannon) Brandt of Stoughton, WI, and daughter Sally (Lu) Brandt Maly of Phoenix, AZ. 8 grandchildren, Lesley (JJ) Brandt Crouse of Omaha, NE, Jacob (Suzanne) Brandt of Madison, WI, Jennifer Brandt of Stoughton, WI, Benjamin Brandt of Stoughton, WI, Britt (Bill) Maly Carson of Phoenix, AZ, Tyler (Nancy) Maly of San Diego, CA, Lacey Maly of Phoenix, AZ and C.J. Maly of Phoenix, AZ. 2 great-grandchildren, Taggart Crouse and Easton Crouse of Omaha,
NE.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, in October, 2019, her parents, her sisters Esther (Doyle) Dyer, Mabel (Dean) Hashman, Ruth (Paul) Morrison, Pearl (Owen) Johnson and brothers William (Pat) Vogel and Herbert (Betty) Vogel.
