Did you know that behind many of the employee events and traditions at the City of Alliance is a group of dedicated staff members working to make the workplace more connected and enjoyable?
The Employee Activity Committee (EAC) is an internal committee made up of City employees who volunteer their time to plan activities, recognize coworkers, and create opportunities for employees to connect outside of their daily responsibilities. Employees Cindy Baker, Emmerae Hudson, Whisper Coleman, Tammy Suit, Angela Flesner, Teran Sherfey, Erin Nixon, and Shana Brown make up this year’s committee. The EAC and its events are funded by Employee donations, with 100% of contributions going back to employees. While most residents may never hear about the committee, its efforts help build a positive workplace culture that benefits employees across every City department.
Throughout the year, the EAC coordinates a variety of programs and events designed to strengthen employee engagement. The committee hosts Employee Huddles, publishes monthly employee newsletters, and recognizes outstanding staff members through its Employee Spotlight program. Each spotlight celebrates an individual employee’s contributions while giving coworkers the opportunity to learn a little more about the person behind the job title.
The committee also plans several annual traditions that employees look forward to, including the Annual Employee Banquet, the Public Service Recognition Week Luncheon, and the Annual Soup Luncheon. These events provide opportunities to celebrate accomplishments, recognize years of dedicated public service, and simply enjoy spending time together as coworkers.
While the Employee Activity Committee works behind the scenes, its mission is simple: to create opportunities for employees to feel connected, appreciated, and supported. By investing in the people who serve the community every day, the committee helps foster a workplace where teamwork, recognition, and camaraderie can thrive.
